The programmer changed our software to look to this group for membership and if they are in that group to allow them access. So I thought "HEY BUILD A GROUP!" so I did. That worked great until we started moving users into different OUs to accommodate our virtual desktop deployment. In the past when a user logged on it queried the USERS OU and if they were a member it allowed access. We have an in-house developed software package that connects to AD with an LDAP query. So if I am using incorrect syntax or formatting here.
